LGBTQIA+

“To love oneself is the beginning of a lifelong romance.”
– Oscar Wilde

It is no secret: living in this world as a LGBTQIA+ person isn’t easy.

You worked so hard to let your true self be known to others after discovering this part of you. But there you… debated on TV, work conversations, school, even among family and friends on whether you are even worthy of being accepted.

It’s so dehumanizing.

You must manage the challenges of navigating family relationships, negotiating social settings, dealing with discrimination, thoughts of suicide, body image issues, gender identity issues, internalized homophobia, bullying, and I’m sure the list can go on.

Every day, you are left with the trauma from having to handle it all.

Being burdened with the work to recover from what others did to you sucks. You didn’t choose for any of this to happen.

Now it feels like you have to be on guard all the time. You feel anxious going to certain places or around certain people.

Work should be safe enough, but it sometimes seems safe enough for everyone else.

Being in a healthy relationship with someone else sounds amazing, but you’ve hardly had a relationship where you’ve felt comfortable.

So here you are searching for help…

…hoping to find a place that is safe and accepting.

At Green Leaf Counseling, it is important that we fully embrace our friends at the margins, especially our LGBTQIA+ friends. We want you to be seen, heard, and felt in our hearts. There is always a place for you here.

This is where you can come to with all of your beautiful and ugly parts and experience the openness and kindness you much deserve.

We want you to have a radical acceptance of yourself, of your past, of your future. We will work with you to undo the parts of yourself that have experienced trauma, feel anxious and depressed, and undo the loneliness that so many of us in the world live with.

There is so much ahead of you on your life journey. So let’s work together to help you heal from the past so that you can live in the future. You deserve it.
